CHEYENNE – Junior quarterback Mason Hamilton passed for 235 yards and four touchdowns to help No. 4-ranked Thunder Basin to a 34-11 victory over visiting Cheyenne East on Friday night in Gillette.
Blaine Allen was on the receiving end of two of those touchdowns for the Bolts (3-0).
“Our offense didn’t keep our defense off the field very often, so our D-line got pretty worn down,” East coach Chad Goff told KRAE radio. “Our defensive pressure got less and less as the night went on. (Thunder Basin’s) D-line also did a very good job.”
The Bolts sacked Thunderbirds sophomore quarterback Graedyn Buell four times.
Buell passed for 145 yards and rushed for 60. Chance Aumiller caught four passes for 66 yards.
The third-ranked T-Birds got on the scoreboard with senior Dakota Merritt’s 25-yard field goal in the second quarter. Christian Anderton added a 1-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter.
East (2-1) forced two turnovers. Senior Zach Alexander picked off one of Hamilton’s 36 passes. Class-mate Luis Carlos also picked up a fumble recovery.
Senior Zach Valerio had 13 tackles, while classmate Brenden Diesing blocked an extra-point attempt.
East hosts Cheyenne South (0-3) at 6 p.m. Friday at Okie Blanchard Stadium.

Burns 41, Moorcroft 30
CHEYENNE – The Broncs led visiting Moorcroft 22-16 at halftime on Friday night in Burns.
Burns closed out the game to improve to 2-0.
“We started tackling better. That was a big thing,” first-year Broncs coach Brad Morrison said. “The kids responded well to the adjustments we made at halftime. It was a technique thing.
“They started to run through contact and understand they can be physical.”
Burns also wore down the out-manned Wolves, Morrison said.
“We did a good job of keeping our guys fresh on defense,” he said. “Moorcroft only has 22 guys, so we wore them down.”
Morrison emailed statistics to WyoSports on Friday night, but they did not arrive by deadline.
