CHEYENNE – Ellie Brewer and Kendyl Near both won two events to help the Cheyenne South girls swimming and diving team win duals over Cody and Newcastle on Friday in Newcastle.
The Bison beat the Fillies 110-75, and Newcastle 143.5-37.5.
Brewer touched the wall first in the 200- and 500-yard freestyles. She finished the 200 in 2 minutes, 17.76 seconds, and the 500 in 6:24.64.
Near won the 100 butterfly (1:10.58) and 100 backstroke (1:05.87).
Liberty Edwards won the 50 free (28.11) and was second in the 100 free (1:01.52).
South’s 400 freestyle relay team of Edwards, Brewer, Near and Jakobi Mirich won in 4:11.85.
Stephanie Burns qualified for the Class 4A state meet in 1-meter diving with a score of 188.45 points.
Mirich placed second in both the 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.
Cheyenne Central 135, Cheyenne East 47
CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Central girls swimming and diving team swept all 12 events during a 135-47 victory over visiting Cheyenne East on Friday.
Christa Vanlandingham won both the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 7.38 seconds) and 100 free (59.05 seconds).
Gladys Eggers won both the 100 butterfly (1:09.74) and 100 breaststroke (1:20.20). Kira Brownell won the 50 free (27.40) and 100 back (1:08.02).
The Lady Indians also got wins from Sally Osterman (200 individual medley); Emma Reed (1-meter diving); and Porscha Cava-naugh (500 free).
Central also won the 200 medley relay, the 200 free relay and the 400 free relay.
