JACKSON — Laramie High School won all three relays and seven individual events on the first day of the Adam Denton Memorial in Jackson.

“It was a good effort by our team.” Laramie swimming coach Tom Hudson said. “We have a chance to set three records in the relays. That’s kind of our main focus this weekend.”

Laramie’s 200 medley relay of Olivia McPherson, Katie McPherson, Carter Burchi and Catie Weathermon won in 1 minute, 58.39 seconds. The 200 freestyle relay of Burchi, Anna Roesler, Katie McPherson and Weathermon was first in 1:46.20 and the 400 freestyle relay of Roesler, Sage Morton, Tayiah Graves and Olivia McPherson touched the wall first in 3:50.76.

Olivia McPherson (50 freestyle, 100 backstroke), Morton (200 freestyle, 500 freestyle), Maddie Appelhans (diving), Roesler (100 freestyle) and Burchi (100 breaststroke) also won prelim events.

The finals will start at 10 a.m. today.

Cross-country

FORT COLLINS, Colo. — Laramie juniors Jayla Wulff and Mason Swingholm led their respective teams Friday at the John Martin Invitational at Fort Collins, Colorado.

The Lady Plainsmen finished fourth in the team standings while the Plainsmen finished sixth.

Wulff ran a time of 20 minutes, 8 seconds to place sixth. May Lamb was next for the Lady Plainsmen in 18th (21:14), Allison Dodds was 24th (22:23) and Libby Berryhill 28th (22:31).

Swingholm placed fourth in the boys race in 16:58. Jordan Tangeman followed for LHS in 19th (17:57), Kent Henry 26th (18:18) and Carter Sell 35th (18:41).

“We are really happy with the progress of some of the six, seven and eight runners on both the girls and boys side,” LHS coach Greg Schabron said. “All of the kids are making good progress and many kids are starting to surprise themselves.”
