University of Wyoming barrel racer Kailee Webb placed fifth in the final go-round with a 14.45-second run during the College National Finals Rodeo on Saturday, June 17, 2017, at the Casper Events Center in Casper. Webb finished third in the aggregate at 57.95 seconds.

University of Wyoming senior Amelia Anderson gutted out the longest seven minutes of her life, watching and waiting as five goat tiers were still waiting to make their final runs.
When it was over, Anderson came close to winning a College National Finals Rodeo goat tying title. The Forsyth, Montana, senior just missed by two-tenths of a second.
Coming into Saturday night’s short go in sixth place, Anderson had the round’s second-best time in 6.5 seconds to trail eventual champion Tawny Barry of Eastern New Mexico.
“It was pretty tough and intense,” Anderson said in a UW release. “I was a little worried I wasn’t going to make it because those girls are good goat tiers. But it all worked out, so that’s good. I’m pretty proud of myself actually. I mean I would have loved to win it, obviously.”
Anderson made a clean dismount on her run, but when she flanked the goat, it fell on her, causing some hesitation, but she still had one of her better rounds of the week.
UW teammate Kailee Webb was in prime position to win a barrel racing national title, but had a slower time than expected at 14.45 seconds and wound up in third place.
Webb, who led the barrel racing event until Thursday, was a little disappointed in the outcome. She was third in the aggregate in 57.95.
Anderson's and Webb's efforts helped the UW women's team finish second in the team standings.
Texas A&M’s Hailey Kinsel won in 57.89, while national leader Leia Pluemer placed second a 57.92.
“It wasn’t as good as I expected. My horse tried to hit every barrel and I had to ride like crazy,” Webb said. “We didn’t make our turns as sharp as I wanted, so it was disappointing, It could have gone a little worse, but it could have gone a whole lot better.”
The Isabel, South Dakota., junior was making her second straight finals run, placing for the first time.
“I have great horses so I’m not worried about coming back and I’m not worried about our team not making it back,” Webb said.
The three UW Cowboys who qualified for the CNFR in two events reached Saturday night’s short go for the first time.
But it was a tough night for the Cowboys.
Team roping partners Denton and Dusty Taylor qualified on two head, and were out to win the round. Denton was quick with his throw, catching the horns and turned the steer.
But Dusty missed the heels as the steer skipped away.
They entered the finals as the 11th seed.
Coming into the short go in saddle bronc riding in the 12th and final qualifying spot, Wyatt Hageman faced tough odds, and his short go appearance ended in just 3.21 seconds.
