EDITORS NOTE: University of Wyoming senior long snapper Brendan Turelli has agreed to provide WyoSports accounts of the Cowboys’ preparations for the Poinsettia Bowl Dec. 21 against Brigham Young.
First off I would like to take this moment to thank all the Cowboys fans that will be reading. Our team had one of the best seasons it has had in recent memory; a lot of it had to do with the players, a lot of it had to do with the coaches, but a lot of had to do with the fans constant support.
Now into bowl preparation which everyone is anxious to hear about. A number of players, including myself, graduated this weekend so the schedule has been hectic trying to find time to accommodate everyone.
The team was given some time off from practice as an attempt to get everyone's legs back under them. This time off also helped us get the bad tastes out of our mouths from the first loss at War Memorial Stadium in over a calendar year. Once we got back to practice, it was like a scene out of a movie. Players showed up with a serious look in their eyes and a great attitude.
We have been told by past players that this game against BYU not only is important because it would be Wyoming's first bowl win since 2009 but because the Cougars are one of the biggest rivals the state has ever seen. The team has responded to that and players of all three aspects of the game (offense, defense, and special teams) looked sharp, healthy and enthusiastic in Saturday morning’s practice.
