LARAMIE -- Postgame interviews with University of Wyoming players, along with fifth-year coach Craig Bohl, after the Cowboys' 24-16 homecoming loss in front of an announced crowd of 18,378 at Jonah Field at War Memorial Stadium Saturday.
UW fell to 2-6 overall and 0-4 in the Mountain West for the first time since 2012. The Cowboys have lost four straight. Utah State (6-1, 3-0) has won six in a row.
Here is Bohl, and he has plenty to say about the play of his two quarterbacks and his decision not to play true freshman Sean Chambers on the final series of the game after Chambers sparked the offense in the second half. Instead, Bohl went with redshirt freshman Tyler Vander Waal.
Chambers made his UW debut. He fumbled on his second carry of his career, and mostly ran the ball. He had 19 carries for 100 yards. Chambers was 3 o 5 passing for 62 yards.
Senior running back Nico Evans had his fourth 100-yard rushing game in six games this season with 133 on 25 carries, including a 53-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. Here's what Evans had to say about his run, and the quarterback situation.
UW's defense played well against a Utah State team that came in to the game second in the country in scoring at 50-plus points per game, and averaging 55.8 points and 505.8 yards per game over its previous five contests.Â
One of the Aggies touchdowns in this game was on special teams (a 99-yard kickoff return). Another game on a three-yard drive after a UW interception. And one touchdown was on a 56-yard run. Utah State had 194 yards of total offense.
