CHEYENNE – Juniors Madison Blaney and Ky Buell both scored 16 points to help the No. 2-ranked Cheyenne East girls to a 67-58 win Friday night in Scottsbluff, Nebraska.

The Lady Thunderbirds (12-1) also got 10 points from senior guard Sydney Miller and another nine from senior guard Abby Erickson.

“The kids did a lot of little things down the stretch,’” first-year East coach Eric Westling said. “We have been preaching that the little things will add up to wins, and they did. The kids did a good job of staying composed.”

Junior guard Aubry Krentz scored a game-high 20 points for the Bearcats (6-6), who play at Cheyenne Central (9-1) at 1:30 p.m. today.

CHEYENNE – Freshman Rylee Ward scored 17 points and grabbed five steals to help the Lady Broncs to a 39-34 victory over visiting Newcastle on Friday.

“We got it going a little bit in the second quarter and then didn’t show up early in the third,” Burns coach Barry Ward said. “We dug deep, got some defensive stops and made enough baskets to win. I’m really proud of our kids."

The Broncs (4-6) play at Buffalo at 2 p.m. today.

Classmate Torri Long added 11 points for the Lady Hornets (8-1).
