CHEYENNE – Senior forward Tucker Norman scored 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds to help the top-ranked Hornets to a 61-51 victory over Wheatland on Friday at Cheyenne South.

Norman was 7 for 9 from the floor and 10 of 15 from the free-throw line. He also dished out three assists and blocked three shots.

Senior guard Andrew Fornstrom added 16 points to go with four assists.

Pine Bluffs (7-0) play at Laramie at 4 p.m. today.

Cheyenne East 80, Rock Springs 31

CHEYENNE – The Thunderbirds had four players score in double figures during the 80-31 victory over Rock Springs on Friday night.

Junior guard Demetrius McCord led the way with 19 points and four assists.

Junior Xavier McCord added 17, while seniors Erik Oliver and Tanner Muchmore chipped in with 16 and 12 points, respectively.

“We are getting a lot better defensively,” first-year East coach Rusty Horsley said. “We’re making some mistakes, but our effort is really good. If we do make a mistake, we’re able to make up for it because of our effort.

“We also shared the ball really well offensively.”

Xavier McCord also recorded five rebounds and three blocked shots. Oliver added seven assists and five boards.

The top-ranked T-Birds (8-1) host Green River (5-3) at 4:30 p.m. today.

CHEYENNE – Sophomore Brady Storebo led all scorers with 16 points to help the Indians to a 79-65 victory over Green River on Friday.

Classmate Lawson Lovering chipped in with 14, while junior Dawson Macleary added 13. Senior

Tanner Weinberger and freshman Nathanial Talich scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Central hosts Alliance, Nebraska, at 4:30 p.m. today.

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne South moved the ball around better than it has, but scoring continues to be a problem.

That was the case in a 66-46 loss to Alliance on Friday.

Senior Kaleb Phillips scored a team-best 16 points for South (1-8). Classmate Christian McDonald finished with 10 points.

“They’re a very good team. Certainly experienced. They execute their stuff really well,” first-year Bison coach Jeff Bailey said.

“I’m proud of our kids for sharing the ball. We struggled to score. It’s hard to see where that’s going to come from, but we need to also at times be a little bit more patient and run a little bit more clock to be able to manage the game a little bit better and stay in games.”
