CHEYENNE - The South boys tennis team topped Rawlins on Tuesday 5-0, while the girls suffered a 1-4 defeat.
No.1 singles Brendan Lock won 6-0, 6-0 over Sebastian Maes, while Fletcher Mothershed topped Chad Hansen 6-2, 6-1. Both No. 1 and No. 2 doubles teams won 6-0, 6-2, with Wyatt Ebben and Raymond Dougherty beating Toran Flores and Chase Holcomb at No. 1, while Justin Valdez and Josiah Moyte beat Tanner Wooley and JC Ice at No. 2. No. 3 Coltan Tyner and Frank Torres beat Drew Dilworth and Spencer Searle in a three-set affair, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.
The girls’ only win came from No. 1 singles Torisha Brown in a 6-1, 7-6 win over Darby Thayer. No. 2 singles Jessie Foster came close in her first set before falling 5-7, 0-6 to Bailee Thompson. The No. 1 pair of Kiah Sparks and Elina Schmiedel lost 0-6, 4-6, while No. 2 Sarah Willoughby and Saline Hernandez lost 0-6, 0-6. No. 3 Shannon Williams and Patricia Bonney lost 1-6, 3-6.
South also faced Laramie, with the boys sneaking out a 3-2 win, while the girls fell 1-4.
Lock topped Kyle Moore at No. 1 singles 6-2, 6-0, while Mothershed won 7-5, 7-5 over Ian Myer at No. 2. No. 2 doubles Valdez and Moyte picked up the team’s third flight win 6-1, 6-7, 6-2 over Payson Allen and Zane Ferrell at No. 2 doubles.
For the girls, Brown again picked up the only win at No. 1 singles, 6-4, 2-6, 6-1 over Hannah Brin. The No. 1 pair of Sparks and Schmiedel were the only other flight to pick up a game, falling 0-6, 1-6 to Kylee Cox and Line Woelk.
Both Central teams beat Torrington
CHEYENNE – Both Cheyenne Central tennis teams found little trouble with Torrington Tuesday as both the boy and girls won 5-0.
For the girls, all matches were straight-sets wins. No. 2 Kaitly Smedley topped Trisha Cates 6-1, 6-0 while No. 1 Emily Needham won 6-2, 6-0 over Sera Glass.
The top doubles pair of Sarah Foster and Cassadie Anderson dropped just two games against Tyne Stokes and Jacee Shields 6-2, 6-0. Both No. 2 and No. 3 doubles won 6-3, 6-4, with Kaitly Ackerman and Kamryn Tempel beating Elyssa Cummings and Bethany Wanibold at No. 2 and Gracie Osterland and Tenley Keller beat Theona haines and Jennesa Derby at No. 3.
The boys won all flights in straight sets as well, with No 1. singles Eli Norgauer winning 6-2, 6-3 over Brian Fenn and No 2. singles
Ryan Stampfli beating Cody Clayton 6-2, 6-1. The doubles flights were also untroubled, all three winning in straights. Ben Bush and Justin Van Kirk won 6-1, 6-3, No. 2 Caden Bogus and Jackson Cook won 6-0, 6-4 and Ben Burron and Kellen Flowers at No. 3 took a 6-1, 6-2 victory.
Both East squads top Torrington 4-1
CHEYENNE – Both Cheyenne East squads topped Torrington 4-1 on Tuesday.
For the girls, No. 1 singles Lexie Woolridge topped Sera Glass 6-2, 6-3, while No. 2 singles Grace Regeski won 6-4, 6-4 over Trisha Cates. No. 2 doubles Olivia Shoemaker and Addison Turner won 7-6(3), 6-4, while Sydney O’Brien and Savanna Stoddard claimed a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles. The only team to drop a match, No. 1 doubles Nedra Mclwaine and Lindsay Eldred fell in three set 6-3, 2-6, 2-6.
For the boys, No. 2 singles Kaiden Brown won 6-2, 6-1 over Isaac Bartlett, while No. 1 singles Mason Paskett took a win after Briann Fenn retired after Paskett won the opening set 6-4. No. 3 doubles Marty Zhang and Logan Davis won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, while the No. 1 pair of Nolan Gerdes and Grant Redman won 4-6, 6-3, 6-2. Only the No. 2 pair of Nathan Zastoupil and Nick Colgan fell, losing 4-6, 0-6.
