Former Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 standout Brandon Nimmo was 2 for 4 with a triple and a run scored for the St. Lucie Mets in a 5-4 victory over the Tampa Tarpons on Thursday.
St. Lucie is the New York Mets' Class A advanced affiliate.
It was Nimmo's first rehab start since being placed on the injured list by the Mets because of a bulging disk and whiplash in his neck May 22.
The 26-year-old batted leadoff and was St. Lucie's designated hitter. He flew out to center field in the first inning and grounded out to first base in the third. He singled to center in the fourth and tripled to center during the seventh.
Nimmo was batting .200 (26 for 130) with seven doubles, three home runs and 14 RBIs in 43 games with the New York Mets this season. He drew 26 walks and struck out 48 times with a .344 on-base percentage.
