CHEYENNE – Saddle bronc rider Brody Cress, a 2014 Cheyenne East graduate, did not record a score on his first attempt of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association’s National Finals Rodeo on Thursday night in Las Vegas.
Cress, 22, had drawn Powder River Rodeo’s Miss Chestnut. In all, four cowboys recorded no-scores Thursday.
Cort Scheer of Elsemere, Nebraska, won the go-round with 86.5 points on Calgary Stampede’s Y U R Friskey.
Cress drops to eighth in the world standings with more than $121,000 in earnings.
Other first go winners included: Wyatt Denny (bareback), Tyler Waguespack (steer wrestling), Kaleb Driggers and Junior Nogueira (team roping), Caleb Smith (tie-down roping), Hailey Kinsel (barrel racing) and Trey Benton III (bull riding).
