The Laramie High girls swimming and diving team tallied enough points across the board to win the Laramie Pentathlon Saturday at the Laramie High School Natatorium.
The LHS girls scored 199 points, followed by Cheyenne Central at 180, Green River with 111 and Campbell County at 110 for the top scores
The format of the meet had each swimmer compete in a 100-yard freestyle, 100 backstroke, 100 breaststroke, 100 butterfly and 50 freestyle for a combined time.
Lady Plainsmen placed five swimmers in the top 15, led by overall winner senior Olivia McPherson, who tallied a meet high 48 points and had a total time of 4 minutes, 35.37 seconds.
LHS junior Katie McPherson was fifth at 4:58.05, sophomore Anna Roesler was ninth at 5:00.21, senior Sage Morton was 12th at 5:08.30 and senior Heidi Schroeder was 15th at 5:13.13.
The Lady Plainsmen also added eight new state qualifiers. They are Olivia McPherson, Schroeder, Ashlyn Mathes, Morton, Maddie Jablin, Therese Richardson, Natalie Six (diving) and Maddie Appelhans (diving). Katie McPherson and Roesler qualified Friday when they met the standard during leadoff legs of relays.
Six won the 1-meter diving event with 227 points and Appelhans was fourth with 184.90.
