CHEYENNE – The Laramie High tennis teams traveled over the hill Tuesday and split a pair of duals on the courts.

The Plainsmen swept the Thunderbirds 5-0 to improve to 4-3 on the young season. The Lady Plainsmen batted the Lady T-Birds to a 3-2 loss to drop to 3-4.

The deciding match for the girls was at No. 2 singles between Laramie’s Grace Dorrell and East’s Grace Regeski. The match went three sets with Dorrell winning the first set 6-4, and Regeski bouncing back to win the next two 6-2, 6-1.

Notching wins for the Lady Plainsmen were: the No. 1 doubles team of Kylee Cox and Lina Woelk with a 6-1, 6-4 win against East’s team of Nedra McIlwaine and Lindsey Eldred; No. 2 doubles team of DaiJane Giron and Kate Dennis against East’s Olivia Shoemaker and Addison Turner 4-6, 6-2, 6-1.

No boys matches needed a deciding third set. The closest matches game in the first games at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles.

Laramie’s Marcos and Samuel Johnson-Noya beat East’s Nolan Gerdes and Grant Redman 7-5, 6-4 at No. 1 doubles. Plainsmen Payson Allen and Zane Ferrell beat East’s Nathan Zastoupil and Nick Colgan 7-5, 6-2.
