The Laramie 12U-A hockey team dominated Gillette 6-0 to advance to the championship game of the Wyoming Amatuer Hockey League state tournament today in Laramie.
Laramie, the third seed for the tournament, will be No. 1 seed Casper for the state title at 9:45 a.m. today at the Laramie Ice and Event Center.
“This group is playing the best hockey I’ve seen them play this year,” Laramie coach Lare Hamilton said. “I’m looking forward to seeing them take on Casper for the championship.”
Laramie shut out the second-seeded Gillette Wild behind four goals from Wolf Woelk.
Woelk scored three times in the first period on two unassisted goals and one off an assist from James Durfee.
Woelk added a fourth goal near the end of the third period for a 4-0 Laramie lead.
Seth Becker and Rylé Hamilton finished the scoring for the Outlaws with third-period goals. Becker’s came on an assist from Woelk and Becker and Carson Moniz assisted to Hamilton’s tally.
Laramie goalie Landon Lotzer continued his fine play with 23 saves in the shut out victor.
