CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Mustangs fell to Premiere West 10-4 on Friday at the Colorado Classic Baseball under-17 state tournament in Greeley.
The Mustangs took an early two-run lead in the opening frame without needing a hit after three wild pitches and two walks.
After scoring once in the bottom of the first, Premier took over the game with five runs in the second. After adding a run in the fourth and three in the fifth, Premier held a 10-2 lead.
The Mustangs cut the lead with two runs in the sixth, but it wasn’t enough.
Orry Davis and Cade Connell collected the Mustangs’ two hits in the game. Premier West had 15.
Ryan Chamberlain tossed the first five innings, allowing 15 hits and 10 runs, seven of which were earned, including a home run. He threw five strikeouts and two walks. Xander Jarosh pitched the final 2/3 innings, finishing with a walk.
