Former Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 standout Brandon Nimmo was 0 for 3 with two walks, an RBI and a stolen base for the Syracuse Mets during a 7-6 loss to the visiting Charlotte Knights on Wednesday.
He batted leadoff and played designated hitter for the New York Mets’ Triple-A squad.
Nimmo grounded out to shortstop in the first inning, grounded out to first base in the third and flew out to center in the seventh.
The 26-year-old’s RBI came on a bases-loaded walk in the ninth inning.
Nimmo is batting .143 (2 for 14) with a triple, an RBI, six walks, two strikeouts and a stolen base in five minor league rehab games. He was played on the injured list by the New York Mets on May 22 because of a bulging cervical disc and whiplash in his neck.
Nimmo was batting .200 (26 for 130 with seven doubles, three home runs, 14 RBIs, 26 walks, 48 strikeouts and a stolen base in 43 games with the New York Mets this season.
