CHEYENNE – Nico Vite, Max Pedroza, Cody Brooks and Jackson Hesford all had two hits to help Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 to an 8-2 victory over EnFuego of Seattle in the championship of the Continental Amateur Baseball Association wood-bat tournament Sunday at Powers Field.
The win gives Cheyenne (48-18) the opportunity to play in the Connie Mack World Series starting July 26 in Farmington, New Mexico.
Brooks and Pedroza had doubles. Hesford drove home two runs, while Vite, Brooks, Macleary and R.J. Prince all had one RBI.
Post 6 starter Travis Onisto pitched five innings, striking out four and giving up five hits.
Cheyenne advanced to the title game with a 2-0 win over Rocky Mountain High of Fort Collins, Colorado. Brooks pitched a seven-inning complete game, striking out 12, walking just one and allowing just one hit.
Brooks also hit a two-run double that gave the Sixers the lead in the first inning.
Brooks finished the game 3 for 4. Vite, Macleary and Zack Costopoulos also had hits for Cheyenne.
Post 6 plays at Laramie in a doubleheader starting at 5 p.m. Tuesday.
