The host Gillette Roughriders pulled away for a 19-5 win against the Laramie Rangers Saturday at the Wyoming Class AA State Tournament. The Roughriders led 3-0 after four innings before putting together six runs in the top of the fifth innings, three more in the sixth and seven in the final seventh inning.

The Rangers (14-39) will next play Evanston (22-25) at 4 p.m. today in an elimination game at Hladky Memorial Stadium.

Darek Squires took the loss starting on the mound for Laramie and pitching the first three innings. He allowed three hits, three runs (one earned) with on strikeout and four walks.

Four Laramie pitchers – Ben Ruckman, Caleb Eaton, Michael Schutterle and Austin Westnitzer - saw an inning each for the rest of the game. Schutterle had the most efficient inning, allowing one hit with one strikeout and one walk.

Gillette’s Bode Rivenes notched the win giving up three hits, no runs with six strikeouts and two walks.

Schutterle, who played at first base before pitching, and third baseman Maholn Morris hit a double each for Laramie. The Rangers had 10 hits in the game with seven other players recording singles.

Right fielder Janson Adair led the Laramie hitters when he went 3 of 3 with a run.

Gillette (62-18) countered with 11 hits, led by Kaleb Lewis, who was 2 of 3 for six RBI and two runs. Caleb Driskill was 2 of 4 for two RBI and two runs. Hayden Sylte hit a triple for the only extra base hit for the Roughriders.
