The Laramie Rangers American Legion baseball team takes a four-game winning streak to Spearfish, S.D., today for the Alan Tellinghuisen Tournament.
The Rangers (5-11) will play four games over the next three days. They play Douglas at 5:45 p.m. today. Laramie then plays Miles City, Montana, at 10 a.m. and Sturgis, S.D., at 12:15 p.m. Saturday. It concludes the tournament at 9 a.m. Sunday against Wheatland.
Laramie split a doubleheader with Douglas earlier this season in Laramie, and defeated Wheatland twice last weekend in Torrington.
The Rangers’ offense continues to be a strength early in the season as they average just over six runs per game. Caleb Eaton is hitting just below .500 (30 of 61) with 10 RBI, four doubles and a team-best five triples. Aiden Morris leads the Rangers with 12 RBI. Ramon Gomez has 11 and Tyler Oppie has 10.
With four victories over Torrington and Wheatland last weekend, Laramie saw its team earned run average drop from just above eight to 6.86. The defense still needs improvement as the Rangers have allowed 78 unearned runs.
