Brody Cress, a 2014 Cheyenne East graduate, scored 79.5 points on the back of Power River Rodeo’s Double Take for his second qualified ride of the National Finals Rodeo.
Cress, 22, had the ninth-best score of the seventh go-round, and finished out of the money. Chase Brooks and Wade Sundell split the win with 90-point scores.
Cress remains 12th in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings with more than $121,587 in earnings.
Other winners during the seventh round included: Orin Larsen (bareback riding); Tyler Pearson and Hunter Cure (steer wrestling); Luke Brown and Jake Long and Derrick Begay and Cory Petska (team roping); Tyson Durfey (tie-down roping); Hailey Kinsel (barrel racing) and Chase Dougherty (bull riding).
