The Laramie Outlaws 12U-A hockey team began the 12U State Tournament with a 7-1 win over Cheyenne on Friday at the Laramie Ice and Event Center.
Also Friday, top-seeded Casper topped No. 5 seed Sheridan, 14-1.
The third-seeded Outlaws (11-7-3 overall) took an early lead with two goals by Carson Moniz on assists from Bode Winn and Emily Bresnahan for a 2-0 lead after one period.
Wolf Woelk scored in the second period for a 3-0 lead and the Outlaws added four goals in the final period to put the game away.
Moniz scored on an assist from James Durfee while Woelk, Maggie Miller and Seth Becker added goals.
Laramie goalie Landon Lotzer made 37 saves to pick up the win in next.
Laramie continues play today against second-seeded Gillette at 1:30 p.m. There will be four games total today with a consolation game and the championship game slated for Sunday.
