CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Extreme under-18 girls fastpitch softball team beat Gillette twice to win the Wyoming USA Softball state championship Sunday in Casper.

Cheyenne downed Gillette 14-3 in the winner’s bracket. Gillette advanced to the title game by beating Green River, 7-0.

Extreme (42-12-3) won the state championship by holding off Gillette’s rally for a 9-6 win.

Janey Adair was 2 for 3 with a triple and four RBIs in the winner’s bracket final. Maggie Seghetti was 4 for 4 with two home runs and three RBIs. Brittney Lopez went 3 for 4 with a double.

Ariana Galicia scattered five hits during four innings in the pitcher’s circle to pick up the win.

In the championship, Jayden Gashler was 3 for 4. Lopez was 3 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Jordan Harris posted two hits and an RBI, while Seghetti drove home two runs.

Adair went the distance in the circle during the championship game.
