Laramie was well represented in Casper when the Laramie Girls Softball organization recently sent seven teams and a total of 83 players to the state tournaments. It was the most from any city in Wyoming.
The teams were based on age groups ranging from 18 and under to 8 and under with several divisions offering competitive and recreational brackets.
Two Laramie teams won championships and four teams place third July 11-14 at the North Casper Softball Complex.
The Laramie 8 and under recreational team, coached by Nick Hauser, Marc Hungerford and Matt Lehning, repeated as state champions. This is the second year the division was offered at the state tournaments.
Laramie beat the Green River Chaos (11-7) and the Lady Lobos twice (11-6 and 9-6) for the championship.
Members of the 8 and under team were Audry Olson, Blaire Hauser, Paityn Lehning, Shea Churches, Teaghan Wroblewski, Ashlyn Stucky, Emma Hunderford, Adelaide Vasek, Hayle Hamilton, Avery Rehor, Maeve Morris and Chrissy West.
Also bringing home a title for Laramie was the 14 and under Laramie recreation team, coached by Randy Welniak and Mark Wade.
The Laramie All-Stars beat the Casper Rebels (12-5), Lander Legends (4-2), Casper Cobras (7-3) and the Lander Legends (19-11) again in the final.
Members of the 14 and under team were Alexia Lucero, Emma Welniak, Heidi Welniak, Mallorie Hamel, Sidney DeLancey, Taylor Gamroth, Mayci Wade, Ilsa Soule, Karlee Lehning, Kinley Wade and Raegan Johnson.
Laramie sent two 10 and under teams to state, and both finished in third place.
The 10 and under recreation team was coached by Rachael Allen, Mandy Palmer, Leann Kaiser and Chris Chamberlain. Laramie lost to Wyoming Fearless (12-0), beat the Cody Pride (14-13) and Gillette Bluejays (14-11) and lost to Wyoming Fearless (18-4).
Members of the 10 and under recreation team were Lauren Chamberlain, Paige Settle, Anna Kaiser, Aeryn Fairfield, Mia Trujillo, Ellie Oakey, Abigail Sanchez, Brooklyn Rusch, Makayia McKinney, Krista Christensen, Taylor Darling and Raelynn Bartel.
The Laramie 10 and under competitive team was coached by Jarod Juarez, Jeff Suloff, Chad Witte and Gabe Lucero. Laramie beat the Casper Rebels Lime (16-12), lost to the Lander Legends (10-3), bounced back with wins against the Casper Rebels Blue (9-8) and Buffalo Heaters (10-9) and lost to the Lander Legends (15-12).
Members of the 10 and under competitive team were Mireya Pearson, Riley Petruso, Alexa Hauser, Ashtyn Witte, Romy Hoyt, Delaney Suloff, Kaitlynn Jacobson, Kynlee Pearson, Sloane Claude, Bella Juarez, Shaylee Lucero, Graisen Hawkins and Devani Romero.
The Laramie 12 and under competitive team also place third with coaches Jerry Dodd, Dylan Milam, Jeremy Sell and Cy Cass.
The Laramie team beat Wicked 307 (12-4) and lost to the Rock Springs Storm (16-2) and Wyoming Fearless (10-9).
Members of the 12 and under team were Danielle Ramirez, Kellen Vohland, Carson Milam, Tessa Dodd, Anne Sell, Tyanne Bartel, Calli Cass, Brooklyn McKinney, Ava Yniguez, Emilee Sidoreus, Madalyn Doser, Cielo Lujan and Amanda Kricken.
The fourth third place finish went to the Laramie 14 and under competitive team, coached by Jason Pacheco, Marty McKinney and Jerrod Isaak. Laramie beat the Casper Voltage (14-11) and lost to the Gillette Bluejays (9-3) and Cody Pride (17-5).
Members of the 14 and under team were Izabella Pacheco, Kailyn Ruckman, Baily Issak, Macy McKinney, Paysen Witte, Marisol Gomez, Lily Meyen, Ava Soule, Bayle Southern and Paige Kuhn.
The Laramie 18 and under recreational team was coached by Addison Henry and Kaycee Prevedel. Laramie lost to the Rock Springs Storm (17-7) and Green River Chaos (15-0).
Members of the 18 and under team were Sonrisa Gonzales, Julianna Andrews, Alicia Swinford, Sarah Martin, Jaycee Johnston, Kiera Gruver, Lily Bustos, Evee Caramanno, Erin Chavis, Sierra Soderberg, Rosie Williams and Trish Groff.
