SAN DIEGO — The University of Wyoming volleyball team swept San Diego State on the road Thursday defeating the Aztecs 25-22, 25-23, 26-24 for the ninth win in the last 10 matches.
The Cowgirls (16-8 overall, 11-2 Mountain West) had a .322 hitting percentage while holding the Aztecs (12-12, 5-8) to a .211 mark.
Jackie McBride led UW with a match-high 14 kills and hit .476 on 21 attacks. KC McMahon and Tara Traphagan added 12 kills each and hit .308 and .571, respectively. Halie McArdle added eight kills.
Cowgirl Mackenzie Coates orchestrated the offense by averaging more than 15 assists per set and 46 total for the match. Coates, along with McBride, also had the two service aces for UW.
Defensively, McBride led the team at the net with six block assists and Coates, McArdle and McMahon had two each. In the back row, Madi Fields tallied 16 digs and McArdle added eight.
Both teams had seven team blocks. UW had nine service aces to SDSU’s three.
The Cowgirls will next play at noon Saturday at Fresno State.
