Former University of Wyoming women’s basketball player Bailee Cotton has signed a contract this week to begin her professional playing career with BK LOKO Trutnov in the Czech Republic.
Cotton finished her career for the Cowgirls last season by being named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Additionally, she was named to the MW All-Defensive and All-Conference teams. She finished the season fourth in the MW in rebounding (8.6 rebounds per game), sixth in blocked shots (1.1 blocks per game) and took a team-leading 23 charges. Cotton recorded eight double-doubles during the season, and 13 in her career.
Cotton finished he UW career with 741 rebounds, which is 13th in school history. She also added 62 blocked shots and 118 steals, which are 13th and 18th, respectively, in UW history. She scored 964 points and had 123 assists. She shot 43.4 percent from the field and 71.4 percent from the free-throw line.
As a senior, she reached double-digit scoring in 23 games, and had double-digit rebounds 13 times. She led the Cowgirls in rebounding 25 times and steals 17 times.
Off the court, Cotton earned Academic All-MW honors four times, and earned a degree in architectural engineering with a minor in mathematics.
