Former Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 standout Brandon Nimmo was 0 for 3 with two walks, a strikeout and three runs scored for the Triple-A Syracuse Mets during a 15-8 win over the Charlotte Knights on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old grounded into a fielder’s choice in the second inning, struck out looking to end the third, and flew out to left field in the fifth.
Nimmo is batting .182 (2 for 11) with a triple, four walks, two strikeouts and four runs scored in four minor league rehab starts. He was placed on the injured list May 22 with a bulging cervical disk and whiplash in his neck.
The 6-foot-3, 207-pounder is batting .200 926 for 130) with seven doubles, three home runs, 14 RBIs, 26 walks and 48 strikeouts in 43 games with the New York Mets this season.
