CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East junior quarterback Graedyn Buell was a unanimous selection for Class 4A offensive player of the year.

Buell completed 202 of 326 passes (62%) for 2,975 yards, 35 touchdowns and seven interceptions to help the Thunderbirds go 7-4 and reach the state semifinals.

He was one of five East players to earn first team all-state honors.

Senior Chance Aumiller was a first team pick at both wide receiver and defensive back. Aumiller caught 57 passes for 1,099 yards, which was tops in the state. He also scored 18 touchdowns. Defensively, Aumiller had 21 tackles (15 solo), with seven pass breakups and an interception.

T-Birds junior offensive lineman Dakota Heckman made the all-state list. Classmate Julian Vigil made the team on the defensive line. Vigil finished the season with 51 tackles (12 solo and 12 for loss), four sacks, five pass breakups and a blocked kick.

Junior linebacker Trey Bower rounded out East’s all-state picks. He recorded 103 tackles (38 solo, eight for loss), a sack, two fumble recoveries and two pass breakups. His 15.7 defensive points per game ranked fifth in 4A.

Senior Cole Micheli was a unanimous all-state selection as a punter. He averaged a state-best 36.5 yards on 13 punts before suffering a hamstring injury.

Junior Jackson Hesford earned first team all-state honors after catching 54 passes for 697 yards and eight touchdowns.

Cheyenne Central junior Andrew Johnson earned all-state honors as both a receiver and defensive back. He ranked second in the state in receiving with 73 catches for 994 yards and 15 touchdowns. Defensively, Johnson posted 42 tackles (22 solo), 10 pass breakups, five interceptions and a fumble recovery.

This fall, the Indians went 7-4 and made the 4A semifinals for the first time since 2009.

Junior Carter Lobatos also earned all-state honors on both sides of the football. As a running back, Lobatos rushed for 1,238 yards and 11 touchdowns on 197 carries. As a linebacker, Lobatos ranked second in 4A in defensive points per game (19.5). He also notched 127 tackles (32 solo, 17 for loss), three sacks, a fumble recovery, an interception and three pass breakups.

Junior tight end Brock Storebo made the all-state team after catching 44 passes for 442 yards and four touchdowns. Classmate Jimmy Koenig also made the all-state team as a center.

Senior quarterback Dawson Macleary was a first team all-state honoree. He completed 218 of 365 passes (59.7%) for 2,621 yards, 31 touchdowns and 14 interceptions.

Senior defensive end Tanner Bullock’s 14 defensive points per game helped him earn an all-state nod. He finished with 88 tackles (18 solo, nine for loss), and a state-best eight sacks. He also recovered two fumbles and broke up two passes.

All of the aforementioned players earned first team all-conference honors.

The Central contingent was joined on the All-East team by juniors Brady Storebo (wide receiver), T.J. Wilson (offensive line) and Joey Kostelecky (defensive line). Bullock was voted the league’s lineman of the year, while Macleary was tabbed as its top offensive player.

Cheyenne South seniors Christian Martinez (offensive line) and Cari Wright (defensive back) also earned first team All-West honors.

East's Hesford also was named to the all-conference team as a defensive back. He was joined on the all-conference squad by junior Shaye Ellis (linebacker), and seniors Aiden Montoya (offensive line), Christian Anderton (running back), Zac Higgins (defensive line) and Ox Schroeder (at-large) make the list.

Buell also was the league’s offensive player of the year.

In Class 2A, Burns seniors Boe Clayson, Kaden Lakin, Ben Banville and Mitch Miller all earned all-state accolades. Clayson led the state in rushing with 1,748 yards and 18 touchdowns on 203 carries. Clayson also posted 96 tackles (38 solo, 12 for loss) and three sacks to help the Broncs go 7-3 and make the 2A semifinals.

He was voted 2A East defensive player of the year.

Lakin also rushed for 954 yards and 19 touchdowns on 134 carries. He also passed for 498 yards and nine touchdowns.

Miller had 85 tackles (30 solo, five for loss), two blocked kicks and a sack.

Banville tallied 72 tackles (19 solo, nine for loss), four sacks, two fumble recoveries and a blocked kick.

They were joined on the All-East Conference team by seniors Kolton Keslar, Logan Lerwick, Kennan Manlove and junior Wade Pollock.

Pine Bluffs seniors Brian Steger and Kyle Thurin were named to the All-Class 1A team. Steger had 88 tackles (28 solo, four for loss) and two fumble recoveries. Thurin had 133 tackles (62 solo, eight for loss), two sacks and an interception.

Freshman Ryan Fornstrom joined Steger and Thurin on the all-conference team.
