CHEYENNE – Laramie County Community College sophomore Brock Belkham claimed first place in tie-down roping at the Eastern Wyoming College rodeo on Sunday in Torrington.

The Flandreau, South Dakota, product posted a two-run score of 20 seconds. His first go-round time of 8.8 seconds was the fastest of the rodeo.

Golden Eagles sophomore Houston Brown split first in saddle bronc riding with Casper College’s Lane Schuelke. Both cowboys finished with 155 points. Brown, who is from Miles City, Montana, scored 79 points in the final round.

LCCC’s Rance Johnson and Gillette College’s Jacob Kammerer finished fifth in team roping (22.8).

University of Wyoming steer wrestler Gage Greer took third (10.9). Greer – who qualified for the 2017 College National Finals Rodeo while competing for LCCC – is now third in the Central Rocky Mountain Region standings.

The CRMR teams return to action at the Colorado State rodeo April 5 in Fort Collins, Colorado.
