CHEYENNE – The Family First Piranhaz eighth-grade girls basketball team went 3-1 and won the Holly Frontier youth basketball tournament last weekend in Cheyenne.
The Piranhaz beat the Wyoming Illusion and then took two out of three games from Sidney, Nebraska. The team is made up of Kaelin Van Tassell, Anaya Moore, Kendra Spencer, Amya Smith, Makaela Pare, Natzuki Martinez, Jordyn Brennan, Janiah Wright, Bailey Fivekiller and Paige Matthews. They were coached by Brandon Van Tassell and Kylon Page.
The Piranhaz seventh-grade boys placed second, beating YMCA Gators, Rawlins and the CR Titans before losing twice to Tribe. The team consisted of Austin Weber, Payton Gire, Andrew Anderson, Dylan Wilmarth, Tej Hair, Jayden Hamm, Juan Hostetler, Alex Pelto, Zach Laws, Anthony Harder and Gabe Reyes. The team was coached by Shaun Wilmarth and Moo Blackwell.
The sixth-grade boys also took second. That team was comprised of Terrance Wright, Yahir Gracia, Rayshaun Johnson, Preston Decker, Elijah McMillan, Colin Bailey, Jackson Bailey, Owen Schon, Noah Jackson, Tremel Ray and Dawson Elder. The team was coached by Courtney Page.
