CHEYENNE – Senior Jenna Goodrich posted three top-five finishes to help the Cheyenne Central girls track and field team to a runner-up finish at the Class 4A East Regional on Saturday in Sheridan.
Goodrich took second in triple jump (35 feet, 3½ inches) and third in the 200-meter dash (26.36 seconds). She also was fifth in the 100 (12.97).
The Lady Indians finished with 120.5 team points, while Laramie won with 135. Cheyenne East was fifth (90.5), and Cheyenne South took eighth (15).
Central also got a win from senior Claudia Miller in the 1,600-meter run (5 minutes, 15.67 seconds). East senior MacKenzie Marler was second (5:24.92).
Senior Taylen Sewell placed second in the 100 hurdles for the Indians (15.92). She also was seventh in the 300 hurdles (50.92). East junior Madison Blaney was fourth in the 300 hurdles (48.3) and fifth in the 100 hurdles (16.10).
Central’s 4x800 relay team of Elizabeth Prescott, Jessica Salinas, Kathryne Carrier and Janessa Miller placed third (4:16.87). East’s 4x800 squad of Marler, Blaney, Emma Jacobsen and Alleynah Ronnau finished second (10:13.79).
Junior Kyla Bush placed fourth in discus with a toss of 111-2.
East’s Amira Cummings and Dulce Carlos were second and fourth, respectively, in the 100. Freshman Emma Brown took fourth in the 400 (1:02.49).
On the boys side, East was third with 100 points. Sheridan won the meet (168), while Central was sixth (72) and South placed eighth (five).
East senior Sam Hageman won the 100 (10.91), while classmate Jefferson Danso placed second in triple jump (45-10½) and fourth in both the 110 hurdles (15.84) and high jump (5-10).
East senior Scott Uglow heaved the shot put 51-4 to take third, while Central senior Riley Cash was second (52-4).
Central senior Sam Spiker placed third in triple jump (43-2¾). The Indians also got a third-place effort from the 4x800 relay team of Trevor Stephen, Austin Stephen, Joshua Broomfield and Kaycee Clark-Mellot (8:37.71).
Pine Bluffs girls win 2A East Regional
CHEYENNE – Five runner-up finishes was all it took for the Pine Bluffs girls track and field team to finish off its dominant run to the Class 2A East Regional title Saturday in Sheridan.
Junior Maddie Fornstrom placed second in both the 100- and 300-meter hurdles, finishing the 100s in 16.70 seconds and the 300s in 49.19.
The Lady Hornets finished with 181 team points, while Southeast was second at 91.
Senior Kammie Ragsdale leapt 32 feet, 8½ inches to take second in triple jump, while junior Jourdaine Cerenil was third (31-6½).
Pine Bluffs’ 4x400 team of Alexis DePaulitte, Shelby Thurin, Maegan Madden and Kendra Sloan took second in 4 minutes, 31.79 seconds. The 4x800 squad of Thurin, Madden, DePaulitte and Kenzie Sloan was second in 11:52.74.
Sophomore Shelby Thurin placed fourth in the 1,600 (6:10.25), while junior Hyleigh Fornstrom was fourth in discus (102-4). Paige Thompson took fifth in discus (101-6).
The Hornets boys were fourth (71.5 points), while Big Horn won the team title (209).
Junior Kyle Thurin was fourth in the 110 hurdles (16.18) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (44.62). Senior Tucker Norman placed third in shot put (45-0), while classmate Colby Lamb was fourth in the 100 (11.77).
Burns boys 3rd, girls 4th at 3A East
CHEYENNE – Senior Aiden Carroll won the 300-meter hurdles in 43.08 seconds, and took fourth in the 110 hurdles (17.43) to help the Burns boys track and field team place third at the Class 3A East Regional on Saturday in Burns.
Buffalo won the boys team title with 194 points, while Burns had 100. The Burns girls placed fourth (89). Douglas won that title (161).
The Broncs’ 4x800 relay team of Jack Ickes, Kaden Lakin, Colby Stockton and Wyatt Ebben claimed gold in 8 minutes, 49.44 seconds. Ebben, a junior, also took third in the 400 (54.25).
Sophomore Wade Pollock heaved the shot put 45 feet, 11¼ inches to take third.
On the girls side, the 4x400 and 4x800 relay teams both took third. The 4x400 quartet of Rylee Ward, Jaden Gipfert, Madison Thompson and Mackenzie Faircloth finished in 4 minutes, 31.28 seconds. The 4x800 team of Thompson, Piper Perez, Grace Steenbergen and Emma Gonzales finished in 10:56.97.
Gonzales and Perez also placed fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 1,600-meter run. Ward placed second in the 300 hurdles (51.55) and seventh in the 100 hurdles (19.56). Gipfert took third in the 100 hurdles (18.62) and sixth in the 300 hurdles (54.51).
Faircloth and junior Miranda Mosley both cleared 8-9 in the same amount of misses to split third.
