CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Central volleyball team won its last three matches of the Gillette Invitational on Saturday.

The Lady Indians downed Glenrock (2-0), Rapid City Central (2-0) and Gering, Nebraska, (2-1).

Jordan Jones posted 25 digs and 13 kills across those matches. Reese Bradley added 18 digs and 15 kills, while Macy Palmer notched 22 digs. Elena Atkinson dished out 24 assists.

East third in Gillette's Gold Bracket

CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne East volleyball team edged Rapid City (South Dakota) Stevens 25-23, 23-25, 25-21 to place third in the Gold Bracket of the Gillette Invitational.

The Lady Thunderbirds opened the day with a 25-14, 25-14 win over Buffalo. They lost to Thunder Basin in the semifinals 20-25, 25-22, 21-25.

Hailey Marshall recorded 28 kills and 16 digs, while Madison Blaney added 20 kills, 14 digs and 12 blocks.

Shae Halls posted 22 digs and 18 kills. Jenna Merritt put down 15 kills. Ky Buell dished out 58 assists to go with 18 digs, while Ashley Marshall had 55 assists and 10 digs. Libero Sloane Danni finished with 13 digs.

South drops two of three matches

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne South dropped two of three matches at the Gillette Tournament on Saturday.

South lost to Green River 25-22, 22-25, 18-25 and St. Thomas (South Dakota) 12-25, 25-18, 18-25.

The Lady Bison beat Glenrock 23-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Kayla Lesh posted a team-high seven aces for South (2-8). Calysta Martinez swatted a team-best 26 kills, while Lesh added 22 kills. Riley Van Tassell posted 12 kills. Van Tassell also registered a team-high eight blocks, while Lesh and Kiley Still added six blocks each.

Reyna Tovar finished with 47 digs, while Martinez posted 40 and Still had 32.

South travels to Wheatland at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
