Cheyenne South 67, Riverton 27
CHEYENNE – Junior Karli Noble set a school record with 28 points as the Cheyenne South girls basketball team whipped Riverton 67-27 on Friday.
Noble broke her older sister Dani’s school record; Dani now plays at the University of Northern Colorado.
Noble added seven rebounds and six steals. Senior guard Ana Sanchez scored 12 points for the Lady Bison.
The Bison close out the Taco John’s Invitational against Casper Natrona County today at 3 p.m.

Burns girls split two games Friday
CHEYENNE – The Burns girls basketball team split a pair of games at the Big Horn/Tongue River Invitational on Friday.
In the morning, the host Rattlers defeated the Lady Broncs 42-34. Tongue River jumped out to an early lead and held off Burns. Senior Jessica Malm led the Lady Broncs with 10.
Later on, the Lady Broncs bounced back with a 37-29 win over Shoshoni. Malm scored nine of her game-high 17 points in the fourth quarter, including an early 3-pointer that sparked the winning rally.
The Broncs play at Kaycee at 10 a.m. today.

Pine Bluffs wins two on the road
CHEYENNE – The Pine Bluffs girls basketball team picked up a pair of wins on Friday at the Big Horn/Tongue River Invitational.
The Lady Hornets opened the day with a 43-37 win over Big Horn. Though they led all the way, they had to hold on for the win against the Lady Rams. Pine Bluffs senior Azhane Bufford led all scorers with 17 points and grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds. Junior Jadyn Golding added 11 points.
In the nightcap, the Lady Hornets topped Kaycee 69-59. Freshman Kammie Ragsdale scored a game-high 21 points to lead the Lady Hornets, while Bufford put up another double-double with 12 points and 10 rebounds. Junior Sierra Shelit scored 12 points for Pine Bluffs.
The Lady Hornets play Shoshoni at 10 a.m. today at Tongue River.

Pine Bluffs boys win twice at Big Horn
CHEYENNE – The Pine Bluffs boys basketball team won a pair of tough games on Friday at the Big Horn/Tongue River Invitational.
The Hornets trailed Big Horn going into the fourth quarter before picking up a 57-48 victory in the early game.
Junior Hunter Thompson scored 24 points while sophomore Haize Fornstrom added 13.
Later on, the Hornets edged Kaycee 50-44, thanks in part to making 12 of 15 from the free-throw line. Thompson finished with 18 points while Kyle Steger added 13 points.

Burns boys split Friday games
CHEYENNE – The Broncs opened the day with a 47-44 overtime victory against Tongue River. Junior post Sam Sharpe scored 16 points, including four of Burns’ five points in overtime.
Broncs junior Klayton Clark led all scorers with 21 points to go with 13 rebounds and five steals. Sharpe also grabbed eight rebounds.
Burns ended the day with a 45-34 loss to Shoshoni.
Sharpe scored a game-high 18 points to go with 12 rebounds. Clark had 7 points and seven rebounds.

CHEYENNE – Senior Isiah Dicks broke a school record with 35 points as the Cheyenne South boys basketball team topped Riverton 73-55 on Friday.
“He got the majority of them in the post,” South coach Jim Shaffer said. “We did a great job of getting him the ball, and he did a great job of catching and finishing.”
The Bison (8-0) needed every one of those points to hold off the Wolverines. With the score tied 29-29 in the second quarter, the Bison scored the last five points of the first half to take a five-point lead into the locker room, a critical point in the game, Shaffer said.
The Bison close the tournament at 6 p.m. today against Casper Natrona.

East, South open competition at Sheridan Pre-Invite
CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne East and Cheyenne South swimming and diving teams competed at the unscored Sheridan Pre-Invitational at Gillette on Friday.
For East, sophomore Jackson Mugg placed second in the 200 freestyle in 1:57.24 and second in the 100 backstroke in 1:04.11. Freshman Walker Marshall was third in the 50 freestyle in 25.09.
Cheyenne South junior Kevin Muela finished third in the 100 butterfly in 1:00.82. Senior Connor Farner was third in the 100 backstroke in 1:07.67.
The teams take part in the Sheridan Invitational today.
WRESTLING
East leads Douglas tournament after one day
CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne East wrestling team advanced six wrestlers to the semifinals on Friday at the Shane Shatto Memorial Tournament in Douglas.
The Thunderbirds lead the team competition with 98 points, just ahead of Cherokee Trail of Aurora, Colorado, which has 95.5.
East’s Bryton Winchell advanced at 113 pounds with a pair of pins. Trenton Eldridge advanced at 138 pounds, Thomas Neal went 3-0 at 145, Steven Lahnert won twice at 152, Seth Green went 2-0 at 160 and Kevin Doughty won three times by pin at 195.
For Cheyenne Central, Ryder Jones advanced to the semifinals at 126, Andrew Nicholson won three times at 170 and Bryce Lundberg won three matches by pin at 182.
Cheyenne South’s Isaac McHenry advanced to the semis with a pair of pins. Pine Bluffs-Burns’ Nolan Schindler had a pair of byes and then won by pin at 220.
Central is 13th with 45 points, South is 15h with 41.5 and Pine-Burns is tied for 19th with 32.

CHEYENNE – Dustin Foran scored the game-winner with 6 minutes, 19 seconds to play in the Cheyenne Stampede’s 3-2 victory over the Salt Lake City Moose on Friday night at the Cheyenne Ice and Events Center.
Foran potted his goal with assists from Austin Davis and Kristoff Malcom.
Cheyenne (12-19-0-1) trailed Salt Lake City (19-14-0-0) 2-0 after the first period.
Kristians Zelts got the Stampede on the scoreboard with an assist from Heath Lantz early in the second period.
Lukas Slansky knotted the score with 13:25 to play off of assists from Thayne Trumbull and Matej Klust.
Cheyenne hosts the Ogden Mustangs (24-9-0-1) at 7:35 p.m. today.
