CHEYENNE — Pine Bluffs' girls basketball team used a strong first half to upend Big Horn in the consolation semifinals of the Class 2A regional tournament on Friday. The Hornets outscored Big Horn 24-12 in the first half, which proved to be enough of a cushion.
Avery Gray led the Hornets in scoring in the game, posting 14 points. Avery Sweeter added nine points, while Reese Graves and Jessica Hoffman added six points each.
The Hornets won their second game of the day, outlasting Burns in overtime to claim Class 2A East's No. 3 seed heading into the state tournament next weekend.
Hoffman led the way for the Hornets in the game with 12 points. Graves and Hattie Lerwick added nine points apiece, as well.
Burns will enter the state tournament as the East's No. 4 seed. Josie Barret led Burns with 10 points in the game. Jordan Griess added nine, and Saria Eklund added eight.
The Broncs won their first game of the day 44-41 over Sundance. No additional information was made available to WyoSports.
