CHEYENNE — Cheyenne East's girls wrestling team finished the first day of the Wyoming state tournament in third place, posting 26 points. Star Valley leads the field with 36 team points.

The Thunderbirds had six athletes advance to this afternoon's quarterfinals. Ryauna Nepomuceno (120 pounds) picked up a 16-second fall victory over Worland's Brynlee Roady. Halley House (125) pinned Riverton's Victoria Hatch in 3 minutes, 54 seconds and Joci Davis picked up a 2:21 fall win over Evanston's Lexi Matthews (235). Gracin Goff (190) advanced thanks to a bye, while Sophia Arellano (105) and Kaelyn Ronnau (155) advanced by forfeit.
