CHEYENNE – Reuben Stoutenberg scored 27 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to help Big Piney beat Pine Bluffs 59-41 in an elimination game at the Class 2A state tournament.
The Punchers also got 10 points apiece from Bill Hibbert and Colt Walton. Hibbert grabbed 11 rebounds and Walton pulled down seven.
Pine Bluffs was fronted by senior Wyatt Carter’s 10 points and four rebounds.

CHEYENNE – No. 1-ranked Cheyenne Central punched its ticket to next week’s Class 4A state tournament with a 56-39 win over Natrona County in the semifinals of the East Regional on Friday in Sheridan.
“Defensively, we were great,” Indians coach Jim Shaffer said. “It was a little bit of a struggle offensively, especially in the first half. But we were really good defensively the entire game.”
Shaffer was especially pleased with how his team defended Mustangs’ senior Colton Rogers, who scored 33 points during a win over Cheyenne East on Thursday. Rogers only scored 11 against Central.
“We did a good job of taking him away and making other guys have to score,” Shaffer said.
Central (22-2) got 16 points from senior Joe Sawyer and 11 apiece from seniors Ryan Bradley and Chase Talich. Classmate Sammy Shumway chipped in with 10 points.
The Indians play for the regional championship at 1:30 p.m. today.

CHEYENNE – Senior Bodie Williams scored 19 points and freshman Gibby Williams added 17 to help Thunder Basin beat Cheyenne South 86-48 in an elimination game at the Class 4A East Regional on Friday afternoon in Sheridan.
Senior Josh Klaassen added 16 points, while Trypp Burtsfield chipped in with 11 for the Bolts (12-12).
The Bison (0-23) were led by senior guard Gabe Hernandez Reyes’ 19 points.
