CHEYENNE – Burns senior Jordan Griess earned the second All-Class 2A nod of her career Monday, while Pine Bluffs junior Jessica Hoffman earned her first.
Griess, a guard, paced the Broncs with 7.2 points, 3.7 assists and 2.6 steals per game. Her assists average ranked first in 2A to help Burns to an 11-17 record and appearance at the state tournament.
Hoffman, a forward, averaged a 2A-best 10.3 rebounds per game to go with 10.6 points per contest. Her 1.4 blocked shots per night ranked sixth in 2A. Hoffman's scoring average was seventh-best in the 2A East Region, while her 2.8 steals per game was the eighth-best average on this side of the state.
Hoffman was voted 2A Southeast Quadrant player of the year. The Hornets were 15-14 on the season, including a 1-2 mark and fourth-place finish at the state tournament.
Hoffman and Griess were joined on the All-Southeast squad by Burns senior Brooke Hansen and sophomore Josie Barrett and Pine Bluffs senior Keslie Bymer and freshman Avery Gray.
On the boys side, Pine Bluffs sophomore guard Carsten Freeburg earned his first all-state nod. His 17.1 points per game ranked ninth in 2A this winter. He also posted 3.6 rebounds, two steals and 1.7 assists per game.
Freeburg was joined on the All-Southeast team by Hornets' senior Wyatt Carter and juniors Justin Freeburg and Shawn Shmidl. Pine Bluffs went 10-18 and made the 2A state tournament this winter.
Burns (1-23) landed junior Mason Medley on the All-Southeast Quadrant list.
