CHEYENNE – Burns' boys track team picked up a total of 77 team points to take first place at the Bayard Track Invitational in Nebraska on Thursday.
Ethan Norris picked up two wins for the Broncs, winning the 110-meter hurdles in 16.70 seconds. He also won the 300 hurdles with a time of 42.76.
Norris also ran the third leg of the boys 4x400 relay for the team that took first in 3:42.38. The mark edged second place by 0.01 seconds.
Burns' girls team finished with 13.5 points to take 11th place. Its highest place finish of the day came from senior Bella Laguna, who cleared 7 feet, 6 inches in pole vault to claim third.
Pine Bluffs' boys and girls teams both took ninth place, finishing with 38 and 36 team points, respectively.
The boys' highest placed individual finish of the day came from Alex Head and Carsten Freeburg. Head took second in the 100 (12.61). Head also ran the first leg of the 4x100 relay for the team that took first place with a time of 46.58.
Freeburg took second in triple jump with a mark of 38-10¼.
On the girls side, Jessica Hoffman took second place in shot put, discus and high jump with marks of 37-7, 121-11½ and 4-10, respectively. Her shot put mark was a new personal record, according to Athletic.net.
