CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Central boys swimming and diving team had 13 individuals and three relay teams qualify for the finals of the Class 4A state meet in Laramie.
Freshman Ethan Merrill touched the wall second in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 3.52 seconds). Sophomore Carson Birge was second in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.52) and fifth in the 200 IM (2:07.11). Senior Nick Allen was fourth in the 50 freestyle (22.23) and sixth in the 100 free (49.37). Senior Logan Schaad was second in the 100 backstroke (54.37 seconds), sixth in the 200 IM (2:09.12)
Indians sophomore Kaden Anderson touched the wall fourth in the 100 backstroke (56.45), while classmate Matt Pietsch qualified fifth in the 500 freestyle (5:13.26). Senior Jake Geyer (100 breaststroke), senior Tanner Johnson (100 butterfly), freshman Caden Cunningham (100 back) and freshman Connor Shuck (500 free) all qualified sixth.
Anderson, Geyer, Johnson and Allen qualified third in the 200 medley relay (1:39.78). Allen, Merrill, Geyer and Johnson had the third-fastest time in the 200 free relay. Merrill, Shuck, Anderson and Colin Clarke qualified fourth in the 400 free relay.
Cheyenne South junior Jared Price qualified second for the 200 freestyle final (1:48.59) and third in the 500 free (5:10.33). Bison sophomore Jonathon Ikerd had the fourth-best time in the 100 butterfly (55.44). Price, Ikerd, freshman William Moore and sophomore Luke Constantino had the fifth-best time in the 200 medley relay. Price, Ikerd, Constantino and senior Rees Mullins qualified third in the 400 free relay.
Cheyenne East senior Julian Yates sits second in 1-meter diving with 285.55 points. Senior Trey Turner qualified fourth in the 100 breaststroke (1:02.14).
