BOYS SWIMMING: South wins 9 of 11 events in pair of duals

William Moore took first place in the 100 backstroke (1:06.98), while South's 200 medley relay (1:50.35) and 400 free relay (3:40.77) squads also placed first. 

Dexter Steinhausen was the runner-up in the 100 breast (1:17.38), while South's 200 free relay quartet placed second (1:40.22). 

South lost to Sheridan, 89-78, and to Rock Springs, 87-82. 

Central sweeps pair of duals

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne Central swept a pair of home duals on Saturday. 

The Indians defeated crosstown rival Cheyenne East, 131-52, and Campbell County, 116-58. 

Nick Allen placed first in both the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 56.58 seconds) and the 100 butterfly (58.12 seconds). Matthew Pietsch won the 100 backstroke (1:01.84), while Central's 400 free relay squad also took first (3:39.24). 

Ethan Merrill finished second in the 50 free (24.03) and 500 free (5:44.67), while Logan Schaad also took second in the 200 individual medley (2:18.68). Colin Clarke was the runner-up in the 100 free (54.27), while Connor Shuck was second in the 100 backstroke (1:01.85). Shuck also was this in the 100 breast (1:16.42).

Central's 200 medley relay (1:46.34) and 200 free relay (1:37.01) squads took second.

Jake Geyer placed third in both the 200 free (2:01.23) and 500 free (5:44.67), while Kaden Anderson finished third in the 100 free (54.47). 

East's Yates wins 1-meter diving

CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East's Julian Yates won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 180.05 during a pair of duals at Cheyenne Central on Saturday. 

East lost to Central, 131-52, and defeated Campbell County, 97-63. 

Jordan Golding was the runner-up in the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 7.40 seconds). 

Trey Turner was third in the 50 freestyle (24.40 seconds), while Dillon Kury also took third in the 100 backstroke (1:05.35). The Thunderbirds' 200 medley relay quartet finished third (1:55.86) as well. 

Nathan Mead was fourth in the 50 free (24.41), while Brandon Stoffan took fourth in the 100 free (54.54). 

"They really showed some grit, some heart," T-Birds coach Mark Dobler said. "They’re really tired. We’re in a stretch where we’ve got seven meets in two weeks, and so they’re right in the middle of that. We still had some good times and good swims. (We are) looking at it feeling like we’re going to be in really good position come conference and down the line when we start to get a little rest and get out of this heart of the whole season right here.”
