CHEYENNE – Seniors Shawn Basart, Jonah Rigg and sophomore Tegan Krause all won two events to help Cheyenne Central win the team title at Monday’s Central Invitational.
Basart led a 1-2-3 finish in the 400-meter dash (52.32 seconds). Senior Carson Brown and sophomore Caleb Amons placed second and third, respectively. Basart also won the 110-meter hurdles (15.33 seconds).
Rigg won both the 800- and 1,600-meter runs. He finished the 800 in 1 minute, 59.82 seconds and the 1,600 in 4:30.82.
Krause won both the 100- and 200-meter dashes. He hit the finish line in 11.08 seconds in the 100 and 21.54 in the 200.
Central sophomore James Pillivant won long jump (21 feet, 3 inches) and placed second in high jump (5-8). Junior Charlie Coles won triple jump (41-0½) and finished second in long jump (20-7).
Junior Nicholas Lewis cleared 14-0 to win pole vault.
Cheyenne East’s boys finished second in the team standings. Junior Jesse Kirkbride won shot put with a heave of 44-8 and placed second in discus (121-11). Classmate Tanner Stehwein won discus (130-8).
Freshman Braden Bohlmann won the 3,200 (11:29.79). Sophomore Kameron Nath cleared 5-10 to win high jump.
Cheyenne South junior Trey Downham won the 300 hurdles in 42.05 seconds.
On the girls side, Central was second with 172.5 points while East placed third (167.5).
Central junior Karson Tempel won long jump (15-11) and placed second in triple jump (33-2½). Sophomore Adrienne Howard won the 300 hurdles (49.68) and placed second in the 100 (13.47).
Indians’ sophomore Kalyanna Flores won the 800 (2:30.07) while senior Jaesa Whitesell cleared 10-0 to win pole vault.
East was led by junior Nadia Burdett, who won the 100 hurdles (15.81) and triple jump (34-7½). Senior Taliah Morris won the 100 (12.31), freshman Maggie Madsen took the 1,600 (5:18.73) and sophomore Juli Moreno won high jump (5-1).
