CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East senior Taliah Morris set the overall state record in long jump at Friday’s Wiseman Invitational in Torrington.
Morris leapt 20 feet, which broke the mark of 19 feet, 9 inches, set by Lyman’s Ann Wingeleth in 2015. East’s girls finished fourth in the team standings.
The Cheyenne Central boys won the team title with 177 points.
Senior Shawn Basart won both the 110- and 300-meter hurdles, finishing the 110s in 15.37 seconds and the 300s in 42.27. He joined seniors Kain Urdialles, Carson Brown and Lucas Linde on the runner-up 4x400 relay team (3 minutes, 36.75 seconds).
Urdialles also was part of the winning 4x100 relay quartet with senior Miles Porwoll, junior Josh Galbert and sophomore Tegan Krause (44.96 seconds). Galbert, Urdialles, sophomore Caleb Ammons and junior Logan Moore won the 1,600 sprint medley relay in 3:58.58.
Krause also crossed the finish line first in the 400 (53.31), while Brown was runner-up in the 800 (2:06.51).
Senior Jonah Rigg won the 1,600 (4:46.59). He also joined seniors Bridger Brokaw and Trevor Schmidt and sophomore Race Morrell on the winning 4x800 relay team (8:37.49).
Juniors Nicholas Lewis (pole vault) and Charlie Coles (triple jump) also won events for the Indians.
East’s boys placed third as a team. Sophomore Kameron Nath won high jump by clearing 5-11. Freshmen Shaw Wilber and Keagan Eicholtz and sophomores Jamison Briggs and Evan McFadden were second in the 1,600 sprint medley relay (4:00).
Sophomores River Sawyer and Lucas Steveson, senior Brayden Colbert and junior David Haberkorn were runners-up in the 4x800 (8:58.93). Senior Logan Mansur was second in the 3,200 (10:25.66).
The South boys had the 4x100 relay team of seniors Sam Thoms, Damien Pino, Broden Burns and junior Trey Downham hit the finish line second (46.93). Burns finished second in high jump (5-9), while Downham was third (5-9).
Central’s girls captured second as a team.
Junior Karson Tempel won triple jump (35-9½) and was second in long jump (17-0¼). Senior Martina PlaGuix cleared 5-1 to win high jump, while senior Jaesa Whitsell won pole vault (9-6).
The Lady Indians’ 4x800 relay team of freshmen Adalyn Racines, Malea Adams-Case and Sofia Rose and junior Rian Cordell-Reiner won in 10:47.00.
East’s girls got wins from seniors Molly Madsen (3,200) and Clara Kerschner (shot put). Sophomore Kaelyn Ronnau won the 100 hurdles (16.21) and placed third in the 300s (51.96).
Senior Christal Dollard (pole vault) and freshman Maggie Madsen (3,200) were both runners-up.
South’s girls got a runner-up finish from junior Rachel Hedum in the 300 hurdles (51.61). Sophomore Sarah Hedum placed third in the 400 (1:08.16).
