CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East’s Azyln Silva, Ryauna Nepomuceno and Halley House all went 1-1 on the first day of the National High School Coaches Association girls national wrestling tournament Friday in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Silva – a 114-pounder – started by pinning Myley Yin of New York in 1 minute, 30 seconds, before falling to Virginia’s Jenna Anderson by pin (2:41).
Nepomuceno (120 pounds) pinned Nayelli Vargas of Connecticut in 2:44 before falling to Ohio’s Kandice Spry by pin in 1:56.
House (132) pinned New York’s Isabelle Green in 4:19. She lost her next bout to Missouri’s Nevaeh Smith 1:01.
East’s Bryanna Padilla (100) dropped her lone bout to Maryland’s Jada Chaves by pin in 2:23. Joci Davis (235) was pinned by Waverly, New York’s Mackenzie LaForest in 3:58. Sophomore Kaelyn Ronnau (152) was pinned by South Carolina’s Bianca Connell in 4:20.
Cheyenne South junior Trinity Warner (100) was pinned in 1:14 during her opening bout by Texas’ Zurri Zamora.
Cheyenne South Layne Warburton dropped a 16-1 technical fall against Christion Griggs of McCalla, Alabama, in the 152-pound senior boys bracket.
