CHEYENNE – The Cheyenne Central girls soccer team bounced back from its loss to Rock Springs on Friday to top Green River 5-1 on Saturday.
Makyleigh Howard secured a hat trick in the win as Central led 2-0 at halftime before adding to its lead in the second half.
Faith Meredith and Ainsley Basich also had goals in the win for Central.
“Everybody was chipping in. With those five goals we had three different kids score and three different kids assist,” Central coach Jeff Norman said. “It’s proving to be a team effort rather than one or two kids doing everything.”
Central outshot Green River 32 to 9 in the win and 19 to 6 in shots on goal.
Usual starting keeper Abby Fearneyhough was back in goal for the Lady Indians and had five saves.
“To bounce back from a loss the next day is always a good thing. It shows the character of the team – they had the drive to bounce back after something bad happens,” Norman said.
