LAS VEGAS — University of Wyoming senior guard Justin James was voted a first team All-Mountain West selection by the media Monday.
Media members from 10 of the 11 MW markets voted. The All-MW team and individual honors voted on by the coaches will be released Tuesday.
The 6-foot-7 James led the MW in the regular season in scoring (21.8 points per game) and steals (1.52 per game). He was fourth in assists (4.4 per game) and fifth in rebounding (8.6 per game), which was best among guards.
James was a first team All-MW selection by the media last season, and was the Sixth Man of the Year in the 2016-17 season as a sophomore.
Each MW market received one vote. The UW vote was a group effort by WyoSports’ Robert Gagliardi and Davis Potter of the Casper Star-Tribune.
James was the only UW player to earn any postseason honors from the media. The Cowboys (8-23) play New Mexico (13-17) at 2:30 p.m. MT Wednesday in the first round of the MW Tournament at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.
