The University of Wyoming women’s tennis team returns to the road this week for a pair of Mountain West matches against a pair of teams that sit at 2-1 in league action.
The Cowgirls take on San Diego State at 3 p.m. Thursday and UNLV at 11 a.m. Saturday.
UW (11-7, 2-1 MW) is coming off a pair of victories last week in Laramie. The Pokes disposed of Boise State 4-1 to begin the weekend before blanking Utah State 4-0.
Violetta Borodina and Sophie Zehender went 2-0 at doubles and also each went 2-0 in singles play.
Noesjka Brink went 1-0 on the week and led in her match against the Aggies before UW clinched the team victory. With two wins last week, Borodina joins Brink and Zehender with double-digit wins in 2024.
Brink and Zehender lead the Cowgirls with 12 singles victories each this season while Borodina has 10 wins. In doubles play, Borodina and Zehender are now 14-2 in dual play to lead the Cowgirls.
As a team, UW is 32-13 in doubles matches this season and has won the doubles point in 13 matches.
San Diego State and UNLV have been formidable at home this season. The Aztecs begin the week with a 4-1 mark at home and 8-5 overall while UNLV is 8-2 and 9-5.
