CHEYENNE – Cheyenne East senior Amira Cummings won the 55-meter dash at the Basin Nation Invitational on Friday in Gillette.
She crossed the finish line in a school record time of 7.39 seconds. Cummings also finished second in pole vault by clearing 11 feet.
East freshman Mikaila Trujillo was second in the 1,600-meter run (5 minute, 36.24 seconds). Cheyenne Central’s Sydney Morrell won that event in 5:34.91. Central sophomore Kaya Pillivant was third in the 1,600 (5:36.44).
Central sophomore Jordan Stoddard won the 400-meter dash (1:01.71) and high jump (5 feet, 4 inches), and took third in the 200 (27.26).
Senior Kaitlyn Migneault heaved the shot put 40-2½ to win that event.
The Lady Indians’ 4x400 relay team of Emma Reed, Eliza-Grace Smith, Alyssa Brenchley and Grace McColl took third in 4:31.43. Pillivant, Morrell, Lauren Clark and Jenna Broomfield joined forces to take third in the 4x800 (10:43.02).
Katie Thomson was third in long jump (15-11) and fourth in triple jump (33-4¼).
Cheyenne South junior Caydince Groth was second in the 400 (1:02.48) and fourth in both the 55 (7.61) and 200 (27.53).
On the boys side, Central senior Trevor Stephen won the 800 in 2:04.20. He joined Brayden Kivisto, Brecken Miller and Jacob Frentheway on the winning 4x800 relay (8:47.20). East’s 4x800 relay team of Levi Smith, Cameron Johnson, Nathan Zastoupil and Cactus Rogers took second (8:52.58).
Central’s Will Monger(200) and Tanner Bullock (shot put) took third in their respective events.
East’s 1,600-meter sprint medley team of Smith, Johnson, Marik Cummings and Kaliff Guevara was third (4:04.51). The Thunderbirds also took third in the 4x200 relay with the team of Terrell Dudley, Jacee Sheets, Christian Anderton and Ox Schroeder (1:38.77).
