CHEYENNE – The Pine Bluffs girls track and field team won seven events to claim the title at the Southeastern Wyoming Athletic Conference meet Saturday in Lusk.
The Lady Hornets finished with 202 points, while runner-up Southeast had 101.
Sophomore Shelby Thurin won both the 1,600- and 3,200-meter runs, crossing the finishing line in 6 minutes, 17.43 seconds in the 1,600 and 14:09.36 in the 3,200.
Senior Kendra Sloan cleared 9 feet to win pole vault. She joined freshmen Kami Tangeman and Jaden Shelit and junior Jourdaine Cerenil on the winning 4x100 relay (53.37 seconds). Sloan, freshmen Andrea Reifschneider and Alexis DePaulitte and sophomore Maegan Madden won the 1,600 sprint medley relay (4:46.41).
Junior Maddie Fornstrom won the 110 hurdles in 17.05 seconds and took second in the 300 hurdles in 49.
Junior Sophie Howard tossed the discus 107 feet, 6 inches to claim the win. Cerenil was second in both long jump (15-10½) and triple jump (33-6) and third in high jump (4-10).
The Pine Bluffs boys took second with 137.5 points.
Junior Michael Shain won the 3,200 (11:37.75) and placed second in the 1,600 (5:12.10). Senior Seth Tangeman won triple jump (38-9), took second in the 100 (11.25) and placed fourth in long jump (19-5½).
Senior Hunter Jeffres won shot put with a heave of 48-5. Senior James Merryfield won discus (154-0), while classmate Tucker Norman was second (142-10).
