CHEYENNE – Cheyenne American Legion Post 6 senior Cody Brooks earned the third first team Wyoming Class AA all-state honor of his career Thursday.
The first baseman and pitcher batted .309 (56 for 181) with 18 doubles, six triples, a home run and 48 RBIs for the Sixers (51-25). On the mound, he posted a 5-4 record, 1.99 earned-run average and 102 strikeouts.
Senior catcher and pitcher Max Pedroza also repeated as a first team all-state pick. He had a 4-2 record on the mound with a 3.20 ERA and 33 strikeouts. Pedroza batted .354 (68 for 192) with 16 doubles, four triples a home run and 48 RBIs.
Senior infielder Nico Vite – who was a second team selection in 2018 – picked up a first team nod. He hit .360 (85 for 236) with 17 doubles, 10 triples, two home runs and 53 RBIs. Junior left-hander Travis Onisto also moved up from the second team to the first team this season. He posted a 2.21 ERA, a 9-0 record and 96 strikeouts.
Pitcher Trey Trimble and infielder R.J. Prince, both seniors, were recognized as second team all-staters, as was sophomore catcher and outfielder Andrew Johnson. Prince also was a second-teamer in 2018.
